Bravo

Bravo is a American cover television community, launched on December 1, 1980. It is possessed by NBCUniversal, a subsidiary of Comcast. The channel originally concentrated on programming linked to nice arts and movie ; it now broadcasts several reality tv series aimed at 25-54-year-old women as well as the homosexual community, along with acquired and unique dramas, along with mainstream theatrically released feature films.

Bravo initially launched as a commercial-free premium channel on December 1, 1980. It was initially co-owned by Cablevision’s Rainbow Media department and Warner-Amex Satellite Entertainment; the channel claimed to be”the first television service dedicated to film and the performing arts”. The channel initially broadcast its programming two days weekly and–such as Bravo’s former sister system Nickelodeon, that shared its channel space with Alpha Repertory Television Service–shared its channel space with all the adult-oriented cover channel Escapade, which featured softcore pornographic films. Back in 1981, Bravo was available to 48,000 subscribers through the United States; this absolute increased four years later to approximately 350,000 subscribers. A 1985 profile of Bravo at The New York Times discovered that most of its own programming consisted of global, classic, and independent film. Celebrities like E. G. Marshall and Roberta Peters provided opening and closing comment to the films broadcast on the station.
